NewTek , Incorporation had announced that Light Wave 2018 is available , which is a
newer iteration of their comprehensive 3D animation system. Windows and Mac
operating systems software , can be availed on 1st January , 2018 at 12:01am
GMT. Light Wave 2018 , has introductory features , which are new and are
perfect for physically based rendering ,
VR rendering and others . It’s extended functionality of popular features ,
such as : The buffering system , Fiber FX , cel shading object deformations ,
etc .

Physically
Based Rendering System : It is a completely
rewritten rendering , shading and lighting kind of architecture , for greater
reality, being accurate and ease to use .
Render
and Light Buffers : It has an expanded workflow for
rendering and for light buffers , which
, provides , simplified compositing and more flexibility ; which includes ,
real time , preview of new buffers , in
any viewport , with the usage of VPR , in addition to , custom buffers , which
uses the node editor .
Volumetric
Engine and Open VDB Support : It is the usage of
the newest , volumetric render primitives , wherein the artists can use
physically based properties specifically , Scattering , Absorption and Emission
parameters , along with , the powerful
node networks .
Light
Capabilities : The new lighting art , brings the
physical lights , which is a visible option for cameras and for improved loading of IES web files , to enhance
the intensity of the realistic lights ,
which are manufactured .
Surface
Editor , Material Nodes and Surface Preview : The
Surface Editor , has been made to overhaul , the new shading system , with
powerful node based materials , which are then presented with an interface ,
which is similar .
Virtual
Reality Camera : It is inclusive of both :
cylindrical and spherical modes , to create a 360 degree stereo , which renders
and has animations , for VR applications .
Modifier
Stack with New Deformation Nodes : It unlocks and
simplifies , the earlier fixed order of operations : for Bones , Morphing , Subdivision and
Displacements , which is able to drag and drop , for re ordering the mesh deformations , in an
interactive way .
Cel
Shader and Enhanced Edge Rendering : It offers ,
flexibility of non photo real render control , over material shading and allows
even gradient based cel shading , when
Edge Rendering , uses any of the materials available , in the Surface Editor ,
for shading any line .

Integrated Fiber FX : It is made to expand and
integrate closely , with the new lighting and shading system and can be used on

render by the usage of less Global Illumination rays and samples , while
